This Week in Math (Oct 30th – Nov 3rd) Counting by Tens From Any Number

This week we are learning strategies for skip counting by ten starting from ANY number less than 100. We have learned a few strategies:

1. Find the number on the Hundred Chart. Follow the column to count on by tens.

2. Draw the number using base ten blocks. Add a ten stick for every extra ten you count.

3. Remember the pattern that when counting by tens the ones place doesn’t change. Example: 12 – 22 – 32 – 42 –> The number always ends in two.

4. Use dimes and coins to help you skip count by tens.
